Once Upon a time in a city named Brooklyn, a little girl named Marisa decorated gingerbread houses every year as a Holiday tradition. She patiently watched as her best friend's mom Linda, prepared the dough, gently cut the pieces, and carefully constructed the houses. Marisa dreamed that one day she wanted to give this JOY to others the same way it was given to her.

After graduating with a Business degree from Saint John's University, Marisa enrolled herself in the Institute of Culinary Education. There she received a degree in Pastry and Baking Arts. Marisa's vision came true when Sugar Coated was established in 2004. Fast Forward to 2008 when Marisa took a trip to Naples, Italy. During her stay she met Giovanni, a food connoisseur. They soon realized their shared love for food and for each other. In 2010 they got married & started their SWEET journey together.

Now Culinary Artist Marisa & Pastry Chef Giovanni are living their dream hard at work in the kitchen of Sugar Coated. Our two main ingredients are sweet things and love. We bake on premises with all natural indulgences. Everything is made by hand with the finest, tastiest, most delicious ingredients. We invite you to lick your fingers and keep coming back for more.
